Youth participation in elections – check what young people think about it

At the EU Youth Conference of the Danish EU Presidency youth representatives and decision-makers agreed on final recommendations on youth participation. Between 18-21 March on 7 topics 7 workshops were held and discussing the actual results of structured dialogue with young people.

20.000 young people were involved directly to the consultations, run in all the 27 Member States of the EU. Details from European Youth Forum (Vote at 16 and an Independent Youth Programme are Recommended at the EU Youth Conference)

As a new tool, videos were produced by the participants to support all the recommendations, messages within youth participation.

One of the workshops were focusing on youth participation in elections. This video is raising awareness about the importance of using the vote, have a say as a young person. Why it is important to go and vote, what is the role of civic education in schools and how we can make easier access to voting in general. Tools such as e-voting, distance voting are crucial if we want to raise youth participation in elections.
